The domain Listnoir.org has been temporarily given over by its owner as a mirror for "The Scrolls of Alphalon" in case of a takedown of .net domains for criticising artificial 'intelligence' (which was threatened by the U.S. govt).
[ The Scrolls of Alphalon comprise five documents originally conceived in a subjunctive irrational tense that went beyond the counterfactual and into the counterpossible. Tales told in the subjunctive irrational were traditionally introduced using an unlikely locator, such as "upriver from where I were born" in this case, and recited from memory in Alphalonian blank verse, with the attendant repeated rhythmic asides.
We don't have a subjunctive irrational tense in English. We tend to just speak as if things that don't seem possible already exist. The apparently ungrammatical (and parenthetically repetitive) nature of some of the diction herein is an attempt to convey the flavour of the Late Alphalonian language in this parable by a refugee from a slow planet. Note that, as a diasporan fable about lands long abandoned by the teller, the Scrolls show an awareness of both English and Alphalonian cultures. They were intended to be read in numeric order. ]
